Technical University of Denmark (DTU) has recently been ranked as number 2 in the world and number one among the European universities in the category Energy Science and Engineering on the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2016 from Shanghai Jiao University.
"We are very proud of the international recognition of our extensive work in the energy sector. DTU has a clear ambition for being a leader in research, knowledge, and technological development within the energy sector. The Chinese ranking—which is calculated based on, amongst others, our extensive international cooperation and frequent citations of DTU work in international scientific journals—confirms this position," said Professor Jacob Østergaard, Head of PowerLabDK at DTU.
The Universities’ ability to cooperate with the business community has also been valued in the assessment.
"The opening of PowerLabDK last week is merely the latest example of how DTU provides world-leading facilities and facilitated collaboration between private businesses, researchers, and students.
More and more companies are using PowerLabDK’s laboratories and facilities to conduct tests, and to demonstrate the usage of new energy technology solutions to potential, foreign buyers—e.g. through large-scale demonstrations involving the entire energy system on the Danish island of Bornholm,"Jacob Østergaard concludes.
About 1,000 researchers at DTU are currently working on various aspects of the energy sector.
