Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality's Architecture Prize 2023 was awarded on Monday 2 October at the City Archives in Kgs. Lyngby. The award’s purpose is to focus on the many examples of good architecture in the municipality. The prize is awarded every two years on Architecture Day.
This year, DTU's auditorium building 116 received the architecture award in the category of renovation or rebuilding. The award is given in recognition of the recent major renovation of the auditorium building, where the building's special architecture has been preserved, and at the same time made more welcoming with active study environments in what used to be foyer and hallways.
"It is very special to get local attention and recognition that we here at DTU contribute to creating good examples of high-quality transformation. I am very proud of that", says Campus Director Anders B. Møller and continues:
"DTU is a public area, and I hope that the award and attention can help more of the city's citizens and neighbours become curious to see some of DTU's beautiful architecture and take a walk on campus."
This is not the first time that the result of the renovation of the auditorium building has made a name for itself in the construction industry. Last year, the building's lighting design was awarded the Danish Lighting Award 2022.
