Students name DTU in image survey

Engineering students see DTU as the most attractive workplace.

DTU has been voted into first place by students in the engineering magazine Ingeniøren’s image survey 2019. This is the first time since 2013 that confidence in DTU as a career-promoting and stimulating workplace has been so strong among students. According to the magazine, the reason for this is DTU’s targeted focus on innovation and sustainability.

Dean of Graduate Studies and PhD Programmes, Professor Philip John Binning, says to Ingeniøren that it is no coincidence that DTU is so popular among students.

“Prior to 2013, we didn’t have a member of the Executive Board responsible for innovation, so as far as that goes, we’ve intensified our efforts. We’ve always been enterprise- and job-focused, but we’ve become much more consistent in our efforts—e.g. through Skylab,” he says to Ingeniøren.

Director for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Senior Vice President Marianne Thellersen, says to Ingeniøren that she is proud of DTU Skylab’s results and the way in which the playground is used by both students and committed individuals from outside the University.

“First and foremost, DTU is a learning environment where you’re allowed to make mistakes. But many people are drawn by the idea and dream of a start-up,” she says about the innovation workshop.
DTU scores first place on 11 out of 12 parameters—only on ‘salary and benefits’ does it score a seventh place.

For the 19th consecutive year, Novo Nordisk was voted the most attractive workplace by engineering graduates.
