New HR Director at DTU

On 17 May, Pia Lyhne will become DTU’s new HR Director. In her new role, she will help maintain and develop DTU’s position as an internationally recognized elite university. She replaces Charlotte Boysen Schmidt, who is retiring.

Pia Lyhne will be the new HR Director at DTU, where she will impact the well-being, working environment, and student life of around 6,000 employees and 12,000 students. Pia has previously been Head of Department in HR Strategic Development at DTU.

As HR Director, Pia Lyhne, 53, will lead and develop an HR organization with 80 employees, whose tasks include digitalizing processes, supporting DTU’s status as an elite university by attracting talented international researchers, and ensuring that DTU remains an attractive and welcoming workplace that also provides opportunities for professional development and creating excellent research results on a global scale. Among other things, this requires a systematic focus on diversity.

“We’re glad to have someone with such a strong background on board. Pia has solid experience from several different organizations, both in the private and public sectors, and has been involved in a wide range of HR activities, from HR administration to activities with a strategic focus in complex organizations. In addition, she knows DTU very well,” says University Director Claus Nielsen.

Exciting development tasks
Pia draws on more than 15 years of experience as a manager in various HR roles, ranging from the traditional tasks of recruitment, onboarding, and HR administration to formulating HR strategies for management development, organizational and cultural development, and sustainable working life.

Pia has previously worked as an HR business partner in KMD, HR manager in Nokia Denmark, and area manager in PFA Pension. For the past eight years, she has worked at DTU, where she has been an HR partner, head of HR partners, and most recently head of HR Strategic Development.

“I’m happy and grateful to be allowed to continue the development that’s been initiated at DTU. I look forward to getting started in earnest together with all the talented employees. We have several exciting development tasks in front of us, such as carrying out well-being dialogues and figuring out how best to get back to our workplaces while taking advantage of everything we’ve learned in the virtual world,” says Pia Lyhne.
