Further process after applying to DTU
You have now completed your application to DTU! You may have some questions about what happens next. We hope that you will find the answers here.
Further process after applying to DTU
You've submitted your application. Here's exactly what happens between now and your decision, and what each possible outcome means for you.
How your application is evaluated
Your application is evaluated based on the documents you submit. The assessment considers your academic qualifications and your potential to successfully complete the MSc programme. Once the evaluation has been completed, the Graduate Admissions Office will inform you of the outcome.
What if I am missing important documents?
If you haven't uploaded all of the required documents, don't worry. You'll be notified via the application portal, which lets you upload whatever's missing without starting your application over.
When to expect a decision

Spring intake – start in February
| Category | Latest decision date | Deadline to accept |

| EU / EEA applicants | 30 November | 7 December |
| Legal right & direct admission | 10 December | 15 December |
What are the possible outcomes of my application?
You can receive one of four decisions from DTU.
1. Admission
You're offered unconditional admission – you fulfil all of DTU's admission requirements. See "Offers and responses" below for what happens next.
2. Conditional admission
You meet the academic requirements, but there is still missing documentation before your place can be made unconditional. Your admission letter spells out exactly what's outstanding – common examples are:
- Your final degree diploma, if you're near the end of your studies.
- A complete official Bachelor transcript
Your place is reserved but not final until the missing document is uploaded, checked, and approved through the application portal. Because this needs to happen before your study start, upload it as soon as it's ready rather than waiting until the last moment – an offer can lapse if the deadline passes with nothing submitted.
Once the outstanding document is approved, the Graduate Admissions Office moves you to unconditional admission and confirms this via the portal.
3. Waiting list
A waiting-list place means you have the potential to succeed in the MSc programme – it is not a rejection. It comes up because programmes have a limited, point-based intake, and DTU keeps a rolling waiting list: places open up as other admitted applicants decline their offer.
Being on the list doesn't guarantee admission, so follow the instructions in your waiting-list letter closely, and keep checking the application portal and your email so you don't miss a response deadline if a place becomes available.
4. Rejection
You don't currently fulfil DTU's admission requirements. The specific reason is stated in your letter of rejection. You have the right to appeal this decision; the appeal process is described in the letter itself.
Offers and responses
What to do when you receive an admission offer:
- Only one study place offered
If you applied to more than one MSc programme at DTU, you'll only be offered one study place – your highest priority that you qualify for.
- Accept your study place
If you receive an offer of admission, you must accept your study place before the deadline stated in your admission letter.
Please note: if you don't respond before the deadline, the offer is withdrawn. It is not possible to accept the place once the deadline has passed.
Changing your decision
If you change your mind after accepting a study place.
Withdrawing after accepting – if you change your mind after accepting a study place and before the semester starts, you must tell DTU that you no longer wish to enrol. State clearly in your message that you no longer wish to start the programme, and your admission will be cancelled.

Please note: if you have a legal claim to admission and decline your offered study place, you lose your claim to that programme for the current admission round.
Postponement
Can you defer your admission to a later intake?
Please note: it is not possible to postpone (defer) your admission offer to a later intake. If you're unable to start your studies, you'll need to apply again in a future admission round.
