The capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, is often hailed as one the world’s most livable cities. It is also considered one of the world’s most environmentally friendly cities. In fact, the water in the inner harbour is so clean that you can swim in it, and more than 40 percent of all citizens commute to work by bicycle.
With a population of just below 1.3 million, Copenhagen is a metropolis on the human scale, engineered for pedestrians, pedal power, and urban living. The compact layout of the city centre allows you to do your sightseeing and shopping on foot, and explore the many attractions in the old parts of the city as well as the newly designed districts and spectacular new urban icons.
Home to the Royal Family and seat of the Danish parliament, Folketinget, Copenhagen enjoys a rich and varied cultural life of museums, galleries, theatres, and music.
