Andreas Mogensen - live from the International Space Station

DTU invites neighbors, high school students, students, and staff to a lecture with astronaut Andreas Mogensen from the International Space Station.

On Friday, 23 February, DTU will welcome you to a special edition of the DTU Ørsted Lecture with ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen live from the International Space Station (ISS). 

At the lecture, Andreas Mogensen will give a status of his experiences and preliminary results from some of the research projects he carries out for DTU. It will also be possible for selected students to ask Andreas Mogensen questions.

Before the live transmission to the ISS, a panel of experts from DTU and KU will discuss the experiments carried out during the mission and tell what they hope to learn once the data has been analyzed.

Tech journalist Nikolaj Sonne will moderate the event, which will be conducted in English.

Andreas Mogensen is an adjunct professor at DTU and is currently on his 2nd mission to the ISS, the Huginn Mission. He was launched in August 2023 and is scheduled to return to Earth in early spring 2024. 

DTU projects on the Huginn Mission:  

THOR-Davis: A project that includes a camera system capable of capturing up to 100,000 frames per second with an unprecedented level of contrast to photograph the amazing electrical activity during giant lightning strikes.

Virtual Reality: A VR system that can transport astronauts to peaceful places – such as a rippling stream in a forest – thereby improving astronauts' mental well-being on long missions.

3D printing: A 3D metal printer that tests what happens when you use a 3D printer in space without gravity. This could make it possible to manufacture spare parts in space during future missions.
