Corrosion Protecting Paints and Coatings

Corrosion Protecting Paints and Coatings

The effectiveness of corrosion protection provided by paints and coatings cannot be fully evaluated solely through acceptance inspections of the finished coating. Factors such as environmental conditions and application methods also play a crucial role. However, many coated products and structures do meet the requirements for extended service life and such coatings often successfully provide long-term protection against corrosion as specified by their design and performance requirement.

This seminar offers newest insights into overcoming the challenges of achieving long-term durability for coated surfaces. It will cover both fundamental principles and mechanisms, as well as real-world industrial case studies and ways of monitoring coating performance i.e., water uptake and adhesion as well as real time monitoring of coated structures under atmospheric conditions. Additionally, the seminar will address the opportunities and limitations of current testing methods and standards.

Organizers:

This seminar is organized by Morten Jellesen (Associate Professor, DTU Construct), Anette Alsted Rasmussen (Owner, Corrosion Advice ApS) and Claus Weinell (Senior Consultant, DTU Chemical Engineering) from Teknologisk Videndeling’s corrosion steering group.
