31-year-old Kristian Aalling Sørensen is a prominent researcher in maritime surveillance, where the focus is to learn more about security in important areas such as the Arctic and the Baltic Sea – including critical infrastructure.

Kristian Aalling Sørensen’s research into advanced methods for detecting and tracking ships via satellite data and artificial intelligence has already earned him recognition from NATO. He is the first Dane to receive the NATO Science & Technology Organization SCI Early Career Award.
