Job fair helps clarify career options and fosters networking

Over 150 companies participated in this year's DSE Fair, providing students and recent engineering graduates opportunities for employment or internships.

Graduate bridges academia and industry

It wasn't just bachelor students who attended this year's DSE fair. There were also industry master students who combine their master's degree with a part-time position at a company of their own choice. One of them is Anne Tranberg Petersen, who will graduate in December 2025, completing a four-year programme that has given her the best of both DTU and the business world.

“When I started looking for a company that I could do my education in collaboration with, almost no one knew about the industry master's programme, but today, as I'm nearing the finish line, I can see that interest has only increased and increased along the way. And that makes me happy, because I've really gained a lot from being able to study at DTU and at the same time be part of a company,” she says and continues:

“I highly recommend choosing to do an industry master's degree, and it sounds like a good solution that it is now structured in such a way, that at first you study for one year and then split your time between study and work for the next two years.”

Facts

The new, upcoming Industry Master of Science in Engineering combines work and studies. It’s an ideal option for students who want to learn and gain insight into the industry while pursuing their master’s degree at DTU – one of the leading technical universities in Europe.

The Industry MSc is also a great opportunity for companies that need a qualified workforce, want to spot new talent, further educate their employees, or recruit new and highly competent engineers.

With the new 1+2 Industry MSc model, the student spends the first year doing full-time studies, while the last two years consist of a mix of studies and a 25-hour workweek within a company. This structure creates opportunities for both the industry and the students.

A future at the European Space Agency

František Komárek is studying for a bachelor’s degree in General Engineering and dreams of one day joining the European Space Agency (ESA). That's why you could find him at the ESA stand at the DSE fair, where he had a chat with the agency's representatives and learned more about what it takes to make his dream come true.

“It's been really informative to be able to talk directly to the company that may end up hiring me, and I've received advice and guidance on what I should specialize in for the rest of my education, so hopefully one day I can call myself an engineer at ESA,” he explains.

Gustav Hugod is also studying General Engineering at the bachelor level, and this is the second time he has participated in the DSE fair, but that has not diminished the benefits. On the contrary.

“I also participated last year, and even though it's going to be a while before I graduate, I get a lot out of participating. The atmosphere is good, people are happy, and I don't think you can start getting an overview of your career opportunities too early,” he says.
