Arctic engineers in Greenland
Arctic engineers support the development of Greenlandic society
DTU, KTI, and the Government of Greenland educate engineers who meet the need for developing Greenland’s fishing industry, construction industry, and the green transition. The partners are now celebrating their 25th anniversary.

Greenland’s most important resource is its youth
In Sisimiut, DTU shares facilities with KTI—Greenland’s largest technical educational institution, located close to DTU Sisimiut Campus. It offers vocational training in building and construction, raw materials, language courses, and general upper secondary education. In addition, KTI collaborates with the Copenhagen School of Marine Engineering and Technology Management on the running of the marine engineering programme in Sisimiut.
The next step is to expand KTI in Sisimiut and move the Iron and Metal School from Nuuk to Sisimiut. According to Jokum Møller, who is the principal of KTI, the Government of Greenland, has decided to gather the technical programmes under one roof. According to the plan, the construction project will be completed in 2030. At that time, it is expected that Arctic DTU will also have moved together with KTI. This will create an even better framework for the professional education collaboration between the institutions, says Jokum Møller:
“Education is Greenland’s future, and our young people are our most important resource. Therefore, engineering and technical programmes are important for Greenland. By bringing together the technical programmes under one roof, Arctic DTU and the Copenhagen School of Marine Engineering and Technology Management will also be in a better position to solve their core tasks. It will strengthen both education and business in Greenland.”
