In 2000, DTU received a donation from the Oticon Foundation* for a multi-purpose hall on Lyngby Campus. It was named after the hearing aid company Oticon.
Today, the company is called Demant (after its founder Hans Demant), it has grown larger and produces, among other things, hearing aid products other than Oticon, diagnostic equipment for testing hearing and treating balance problems in most of the world.
DTU's engineers are important to Demant
Demant says that a significant part of the company's success over the years is due to the company's skilled employees, not least the specialised engineers in the research and development department, as well as quality assurance. Many of them have a background from DTU.
In addition to being part of various research collaborations, being a case in assignments and generally having a good collaboration with the university, Demant hopes to create greater focus on the opportunities students have at Demant with the name change of the hall.
