The Ministry of Higher Education and Science Elite Research travel grants amount to DKK 200,000. It will contribute to very talented PhD students being able to study for longer periods in the best research environments in the world. In total, 17 talented researchers receive a grant.
Jakob Woessmann has been awarded the Elite Research Travel Grant for his research into the quantification of low-abundance proteins in individual blood cells using mass spectrometry. Through his research, he contributes to understanding more about the human blood system at the protein level and to investigate how cancer can develop in immature blood cells. He will use the Elite Research Travel Grant to delve into new research environments and learn from leading researchers in mass spectrometry-based proteomics and integration of single-cell data in both the US and Europe.
Jens Visbech has been awarded the Elite Research Travel Grant for his development of computer models to simulate how waves interact with each other and with structures at sea. These models can be used to promote the green transition by supporting the development of renewable energy technologies such as wave and wind energy. He will use the Elite Research Travel Grant for a long-term research stay at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. In addition, he will visit a research collaboration in Bordeaux and participate in conferences where he hopes to present new research results.
