Bernd Dammann is an Associate Professor in Scientific Computing at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He holds a master degree Statistical Physics (1992, Univ. of Mainz), a PhD degree in Physical Chemistry (1996, DTU), and he has worked with computer simulations in different fields since the early 1990's. For almost 20 years, now, he has been involved in High-Performance Computing (HPC), especially with a focus on multi-core and many-core architectures. Bernd Dammann is one of the co-founders of GPUlab at DTU, a research unit that since 2007 has worked with graphics cards (GPUs), to accelerate scientific computations. Besides doing research and teaching courses about HPC, Bernd Dammann works as the Scientific Lead and Architect in the HPC team of the DTU Computing Center (DCC), a datacenter that provides computational resources for students and researchers at DTU.
