Spyros Chatzivasileiadis is a Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and the Head of Section for Power Systems (Division of Power and Energy Systems) at DTU Wind and Energy Systems. Before that he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA and at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. Spyros holds a PhD from ETH Zurich, Switzerland (2013) and a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece (2007). He is currently working on machine learning applications for power systems, and on power system optimization, dynamics, and control of AC and HVDC grids. Spyros is the recipient of an ERC Starting Grant in 2020, he has received the Best Teacher of the Semester Award for DTU Electrical Engineering, he was the main supervisor of one of the 7 best PhD theses at DTU in 2021, and is a recipient of best paper awards at Smartgridcomm 2020 and HICSS 2024.
