Varvara Zania is an Associate Professor in the Section of Geotechnics and Geology. She is educated as Civil Engineer, with a MSc specialization on Underground Constructions, while her initial research endeavors as a PhD student focused on Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering. Dr. Zania has a robust background in geotechnical engineering and soil-structure interaction. Her current and past research activities include:analysis and modelling of dynamic and cyclic soil - structure - interactiondevelopment of physical models in geotechnical engineeringassessment of static and seismic slope stabilitydevelopment and evaluation of soil improvement technologies Varvara is teaching graduate courses in geotechnical engineering, numerical modelling, and advanced building design and supervise and co-supervise Ph.D. students, M.Sc. and B.Sc. thesis projects. Varvara Zania is available for supervision and consultancy.
