Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research
Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research is a joint research and education project between eight Danish universities, The Ministry of Higher Education and Science, University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Aim
SDC is a joint platform for collaboration between Danish and Chinese research and education environments.
SDC wants to:
- Increase student mobility
- Promote Danish-Chinese cooperation on scientific and technological development
- Increase networks and cultural understanding between Denmark and China
- Combine competencies within learning traditions and research environment of the two countries
- Enable mutual beneficial interaction between universities and private companies
Initiatives
SDC offers Master and PhD Programmes to both Chinese and Danish students. You can read more about the Programmes in the box to the right.
SDC focus on research within areas that have solutions for societal challenges. Furthermore there is a focus on connecting students and companies through, among other things, incorporating internships in to the educations.
The research activities of SDC are divided into six areas:
- Water and Environment
- Sustainable Energy
- Nanoscience and- technology
- Life Sciences
- Social Sciences
- Food and Health
Organization
The decision-making authority of SDC is the Joint Managerial Committee, which consists of five representatives from Denmark and five from China.
On a daily basis, SDC is run by two managing directors; one Danish and one Chinese. The managing directors are appointed by the committee. Furthermore SDC has two administrative units – one in Denmark and one in China.
