Hirtshals

Hirtshals is one of Denmark's most important cities within fisheries and aquaculture with both production and development companies.
At DTU’s campus in Hirtshals, the Master’s programme MSc in Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture is offered, as well as 4th and 5th semester of the Bachelor of Engineering programme in Fisheries Technology is anchored at DTU Hirtshals campus.
DTU in Hirtshals conducts research in aquaculture and fish biology as well as fisheries technology and fishing gear. In addition, there is the Section for Monitoring and Data, which is responsible for planning and carrying out data collection in connection with scientific monitoring expeditions and from commercial fisheries. Denmark's largest research vessel, DANA, is also based in the city. Studies carried out from the ship form the basis for a significant part of DTU Aqua's research and consultancy.
Students have the opportunity to collaborate with the North Sea Science Park and the business community in Hirtshals.
