Siden 1921 har Danmarks Tekniske Universitet haft mulighed for at tildele æresdoktorgraden. Den tildeles personer, der opfylder kravene for at få tildelt dr.techn.-graden, og som har gjort en særlig indsats for DTU. Æresdoktorgraderne er siden 2000 blevet tildelt i forbindelse med universitetets årsfest.
